Bitte anschnallen zu einer rasend schnellen Reise in ein Parallel-Universum jenseits von Raum und Zeit, in welchem dem Betrachter doch so viel merkwürdig bekannt vorkommt. Ein Videoclip nur mit Stop Motion hergestellt, der unterhält, fesselt, verwirrt und den Betrachter letzten Endes nicht mehr loslässt.

Light of Go(l)d on Negative

In the short lm Light of Go(l)d on Nega- tive, I’ve collected videos that follow the light in luminous and light-re ecting forms, natural and unnatural and present them in such a way, so an interaction takes place that emphasises the meaning of light and a detailed and deeper form of observation gets created. The short lm is presented with an audio fragment based on a musical piece by the Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis and the videos are lmed in Greece and in the Netherlands the past two years.

Chloé wants to help her getting out of it, so she comes up with different ideas and situations which Mia has to deal with, in her own way. Everybody knows the feeling of being stuck. It can be in your career (creatively for example) or in your personal life. So this film is about that feeling of being stuck and about different approaches to get out and find motivation again.

Augenblick im Einblick

Bei diesem Projekt geht es um Jana selbst und ihre Verbindung zu ihrer Mitwelt. Gezeigt wird das graue Alltagsgeschehen, gepaart mit tiefgründigen Gedanken. Sozusagen eine ästhetische Kuratierung ihrer Abgründe und Untergründe. Jana stellt sich die Frage, wie in Zeiten von Isolation und dem Auseinandersetzen ihrer Selbst, Kreativität coexistieren kann. Auch das Einfließen von analogen Fotografien hält Erinnerungen fest. Der Film dient als eine Notiz an sie selbst und soll das Gefühl vermitteln, dass man mit gewissen Emotionen nicht alleine ist.

It‘s nostalgic, candid, raw and depicts a honesty not captured on other mediums as it is permanently embedded onto the films celluloid. This piece explores processes of memory and remembering in relation to my Grandfather whom suffered Alzheimer‘s disease. Specifically the deterioration and fading of memories using nostalgic material handed down to me. The piece films scenes and memories of Coventry, the everyday, the mundane and the conceptual.

The socks

My father becomes the socks. When my father becomes the socks, I don’t have to look for him all day long. But mostly, on the street, the subway, and at the park where many people come, he becomes the socks. When socially weak people (such as homeless, jobless people, handicaps, refugees, migrants, or LGBTs) are exposed in public places, many people pass by with indifference or ignorance. The socially weak people are sometimes treated like a broken sock abandoned on a street. However, who is socially strong or socially weak? Who can define it? Who looks at another with a sense of social hierarchy?

Dies ist der Film zu einem multimedialen Projekt, das die Grenzen zwischen den Geschlechtern behandelt und auf experimentelle Weise aufbricht. Dieses Projekt ist eine studentische Kooperation mit Aline Papenheim, die zu diesem Film eine Fotostrecke entwickelt hat. Die Idee hinter dem Projekt ist, den Leuten eine Alternative zu bestehenden Geschlechterrollen zu zeigen, ohne dabei Vorwürfe machen zu wollen. sondern experimentell die eigenen Vorstellungen einer Gleichberechtigung darzulegen – aus diesem Grund enstand auch der Name Utopia.

Nach dem mysteriösen Auftreten der Zone verschwinden Menschen spurlos. Eine Frau sammelt die zurückgebliebenen Erinnerungen und Zeugen berichten aus ihrem Leben in der Quarantäne.Die Folgen der globalen Coronapandemie sind überall zu spüren. Die Erfahrungen, die während dieser Zeit gesammelt wurden, werden in Interviews offen gelegt und in einen neuen Kontext gesetzt. Dabei werden die Aussagen nicht entfremdet, sondern so eingebunden, dass sie die Grundstimmung des Filmes umspannen. Fiktion trifft auf Realität und lässt die Grenzen verschwimmen.

Most of the time it was just the two actors and two people behind the camera. We wanted to do it!

Es ist noch mitten in der Nacht als Stephan von einem ungewöhnlichen Ereignis aus dem Schlaf gerissen wird...Der Film handelt von dem Gedanken wie es wäre in seinem privatesten Lebensraum nicht mehr Herr der Lage, sondern den äußeren Umständen hoffnungslos ausgeliefert zu sein. Dieses Filmprojekt wurde mit einem Schauspieler, an nur einem Drehort realisiert.

APHANTASIA

Ein Film über Aphantasie, dem Phänomen des fehlenden bildlichen Vorstellungsvermögens. Besonders zu Corona-Zeiten war die Flucht in meine Phantasie oft mein einziger Trost. Umso schwerer fiel es, mir vorzustellen, dass manche Leute diese bildliche Phantasie nie erfahren dürfen. Das Phänomen der Aphantasie ist sehr wenig erforscht, die meisten Betroffenen wissen nicht, dass sie es haben. Mit meinem Film möchte ich für das Thema sensibilisieren, es aber nicht entmystifizieren, sondern auf fluide Weise erfahrbar machen.

The animated documentary short film „Spacious“ deals with Aphantasia too. The story was created based on a survey conducted amongst people living with Aphantasia and aims to provide an insight into this unique way of perceiving the world. What does it look like to not have a visual imagination? „Spacious“ hopes to give voice to a different way of experiencing the world. How do others visualise? And how do I even visualise? Questions that are meant to accompany the audience after viewing the film and that encourage a new perspective on one’s surrounding, as well as oneself.

Rollwest

Shahin Tivay Sadatolhosseinei bricht zusammen mit seinem Rhönrad zu seiner nächsten Reise „RollWest“ auf, die ihn aus Aachen in die USA führt. Er ist in 625 Tagen 6825 Kilometer zu Fuß mit seinem Rhönrad von Aachen nach Teheran gegangen und folgte damit der »Balkanroute« in umgekehrter Richtung. Von seiner jetzigen Heimatstadt Aachen wandert er zurück in seine Geburtsstadt Teheran. Shahin Tivay Sadatolhosseini macht sich auf den Weg, bringt etwas ins Rollen und stößt einen länderübergreifenden Dialog an, der jenseits der politischen Diplomatie das direkte Gespräch mit den Menschen, die unmittelbare Begegnung mit anderen Kulturen und das Verbindende zwischen ihnen sucht.

Accessibility in Aachen

Today’s students here are tomorrows architects, curators, business owners, teachers, leaders. We’d like to invite you to think about the topic of accessibility, which in it’s core is really about inclusion, humanity and human rights. For this video, we talked to a person who is in a manual wheelchair, asked what they find difficult while moving around the city and filmed the video in several different location to shed some light on what could be improved but also what is working. While there has been major progress in wheelchair access in the past 15 years or so, there is still much that can be improved.

How free are we really? What does freedom mean to us and how does a free society look like? This film essay travels through the personal spaces and thoughts of eight individuals — a cinematic collage, coloured by the zeitgeist. This film was made during my second year of studying Interdisciplinary Arts and it is a first attempt to research and picture a universal topic and its connections to the very personal, the thinking and feeling individual.
